FOR SALE : TRADITIONAL SOLID TIMBER BUTCHERS BLOCK
There has been such a big revival in home cooking during the past few years, and what better way to prepare your feast on, than this end grain butchers block.
End Grain Butcher Blocks are generally preferred by professional chefs because the end grain wood fibres absorb the impact of the knife blade, which keeps knives sharper longer. Also, for this reason, end grain butcher blocks tend to be more resistant to nicks and gouges and maintain their condition longer.
This block is constructed using traditional methods and beech timber with quality Douglas Fir timber for the frame - mortice and tenoned together makes for a very solid frame. This is complemented by two oak drawers made with half lap dovetails to store knives etc...
With one oak latted shelf to underside - pan storage etc...
Top made from end grain beech surround with sycamore clamped together with through bolts which are then spliced over. This block has been treated to four coats of Danish oil. (Recommended re-applying one coat every 4 - 6 weeks - very easy to do).
Drawers and lathes are treated with Danish oil also and will require a very occasional reapplication to maintain their sheen.
The frame is painted with oil based cream undercoat and two coats of magnolia eggshell. Very easy to overpaint, even change colour if desired.
