I am looking for a piece of slate 30 x 35 inches [dark blue/black]
to act as a hearth for a small 'pretend' woodburning stove . Is it
possible to bore a hole through the slate for the gas pipe or would it crack? Thanks in anticipation.

I wonder if you can help me. We are currently renovating our house and are looking for a piece of
slate large enough to use as a hearth. It would have to be the following size:
56cm x 125cm and as it would be used to sit the fire place on it would have to be no less than 6 1/2cm thick.
If you could help with this or put us in contact with anyone who could I would very much appreciate it.
Alternatively if you have any suggestions of any other material which would have the similar look that
would be helpful.
