Black Mountain Quarries offer a true diminishing coursed natural stone tile roof in 24 different sizes. We calibrate each stone tile in order reduce laying time and weight on the roof.
General Background
Black mountain Quarries have recently begun production of a new stone roofing tile. We have been working on the project for the last 18 months when we first realized that there was a huge shortfall in the UK of traditionally made stone roofing tiles. Barns, old houses have all been stripped of tiles and the supply is just not available so we have made an exact replica the only difference being is it is made abroad.
This product is quite unique in this field as it is a true diminishing course stone roofing tile. Most competitors use either reconstituted stone (cement) or stone tiles of only one size therefore does not truly emulate a traditional tile. We are currently are working on getting our tile approved by the local national parks and by heritage. If there is any supply left in this country we have been quoted prices between £220-£350 per square meter covered, and often the supply is not enough to cover even a small roof, as we found this out when we were building our house.
These traditionally made stone tiles have an honesty and simplicity that cannot be reproduced by any unnatural or manmade products. Their quality is truly timeless in any given environment.
Our tiles cost £34.08 on the floor and £102.22 on the roof, (this is allowing for three to one coverage) both prices inclusive of Vat.
